Distress Markers!!! Yay!!!

Hi again,

Wow, what a week! In the midst of it all, it was extremely theraputic to sit down and play with my new... Distress Markers!!! Yay (thank you Mr B :) !!!

I really wanted to try out the Distress Markers by Tim Holtz because I absolutely love Distress inks, but I do more colouring than distressing myself, so I wanted to do some watercolouring, and use some of the amazing techniques that ones like Tim Holtz and Jennifer McGuire have demonstrated.

And so enter today's card:

I thought I'd use my Hero Arts Floating Blossoms stamp which has lovely large areas to colour, and I also wanted to try something that I can't easily do with normal distress inks, which is colour a background without masking!!!

Here's a close-up of the flowers and background:

I heat-embossed the flower stamp onto watercolour paper, coloured away and then spritzed the page with some water. Then I coloured onto my craft sheet, sprayed with water, and then coloured the background with my Ranger waterbrush. The look is very imperfect, but that was what I was looking for because, when you zoom out and look at the whole thing, it gives it a cloudy effect.

I distressed the edges with Vintage Photo - I think I was a bit heavy-handed, and I'd only do the very edges next time, I think.

I finished it off with some pearls - the flower centres were customised using my beloved Copics :)

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Thanks for looking today!!!

Lawnscaping Challenge #33

Hi everyone,

I'm sharing a card that I made for the current Lawnscaping Challenge.

So the theme of the challenge is 'Clean & Simple', which is a style I really, really love! So here's what I made:

The flowers in the 'Flutter By' Lawn Fawn set are some of my favourite EVER, and so I just had to use them! I coloured them with Copics, added a sentiment and some finishing touches, and that was it! Actually, you may also be able to see a very faint background on the card, which is from the Hero Arts Envelope pattern stamp.

And, last but not least, there is a strip of vellum on the right hand side of the card. Here's another picture where you can see the strip a little better:

So. Clean and simple, but it took a few elements to make it look that way :) Still, I loved making it and am pleased with how it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by today!!!

Thanks So Much!

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd stop in to share another card.

You know how sometimes the idea for a card is formed in your mind in just a couple of minutes, and with others it takes a bit longer? Welcome to this card, which has taken a couple of DAYS!!!

I started off with the card base and patterned paper, and then drew a complete blank!!! Fortunately, after sitting down at my desk and staring at it for a long while this evening, it started to take shape and I really like what it turned into!

And a close-up of the versamark detail in the background:

We've been to a BBQ at a friend's place this evening - first BBQ of the year for us, and it was a great one, too!

The stamps are by Paper Smooches, except for the 'so much', which is made from Lawn Fawn stamps. I love the 'Zoo Crew' set - the animals are so CUTE!!!

I'm also loving the new Lawn Fawn twine - I just got a pack delivered on Friday. The colours are so versatile and it's so easy to work with!

Okay I'm off to bed now, my mind is going to toffee!

Thanks for stopping by!

Anniversary Hedgehogs

Hi everyone,

Bet you're surprised to see me back so soon after my recent history!

I'm here with a card for the current Lawnscaping challenge:

I love stamping little scenes and the Lawn Fawn critters are perfect for this challenge! Here's my card:

Aren't those little hedgehogs the cutest?! Unfortunately, because of all the contrasts, and the distressing around the white space, this was REALLY difficult to photograph!

I used the reverse stamping technique for the hedgehog on the right; here's a close-up

I was trying to use up some scraps, and decided on my off-cut nestabilities cut-out, and some green scrap cardstock for the grass. Worked a treat!

It's my friends' wedding anniversary this weekend, so I made this card for them. My friend's Japanese and her husband is English, so the hedgehog on the right is SUPPOSED to represent her... I didn't give her any other girly touches, though! Maybe I should get the glitter out and give her some pretty highlights on her bristles... :)

I added glossy accents to the little love hearts, and also popped a couple of dragonflies into the scene. I gave them glitter trails for some interest.

That's it from me for today - hope you liked it!
